Benjamin Basseri, MD
Dr. Benjamin Basseri is a Los Angeles native and grew up in Santa Monica. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with College of Letters and Sciences Honors at the University of California Los Angeles, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience. Dr. Basseri commenced his medical training at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine where he received multiple Letters of Distinction, including in GI Medicine. He then completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Following residency Dr. Basseri completed fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at UCLA Medical Center.
Dr. Basseri specializes in the evaluation and management of difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), indigestion (dyspepsia), abdominal pain, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, and liver diseases. He has a strong clinical interest in esophageal diseases and GI motility disorders.
He has presented research at many national gastroenterology meetings and has authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications. His publication history within gastroenterology has been diverse and includes IBS, GERD, hepatitis C, colorectal cancer screening, Crohn’s disease, obesity, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, short bowel syndrome, dysphagia, high-resolution manometry, hiatal hernia, and eosinophilic and lymphocytic esophagitis (see research publications).
Dr. Basseri an active member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Ben lives with his wife Sara in Los Angeles and is involved with teaching resident, fellows, and medical students.
Leo Treyzon, MD
Leo Treyzon MD, MS is a private practice gastroenterologist serving the Los Angeles and Westside communities since 2008. He is the former Clinical Chief of the Karsh Division of Gastroenterology at Cedars-Sinai. He completed medical school at UCSD, internal medicine residency at Cedars-Sinai, and gastroenterology fellowship at UCLA.
Dr. Treyzon is a board-certified specialist in clinical nutrition and gastroenterology. Our practice focuses mostly on the functional bowel, stomach and esophageal disorders. Our particular skill set deals with mystery intestinal disorders that are yet to be diagnosed and/or expertly managed.
The most common tests that Dr. Treyzon performs include endoscopy, colonoscopy, wireless pill camera endoscopy, breath & microbiome testing, stool analysis, blood laboratory testing, imaging, and motility testing.
